Offer description

Fremantle Ports is a dynamic organisation committed to innovation, excellence and people development. Our 2027 Strategic Plan marks an exciting new chapter for one of Australia's most successful ports.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the People & Culture team as our team is growing with the expansion of projects associated with Westport, and we are looking for a highly motivated and passionate People Advisor to join us during this exciting time.

Fremantle Ports is committed to increasing Aboriginal employment. This role is designated under Section 51 of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 (WA) as a special measure, and we encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to apply.

The Role

We are seeking an emerging HR professional ready to step into a part time HR Advisor role, to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of People & Culture at Fremantle Ports during a critical period of transformation.

Reporting to the Manager People & Performance, you will partner with leaders to support the delivery of People & Culture initiatives aligned to operational priorities. You will provide first‐level HR advice and support across employee relations, recruitment, and general HR matters, while assisting with change initiatives, people programs, and organisational development activities.

Working within a supportive team, you will have the opportunity to develop your advisory skills, build stakeholder relationships, and gain exposure to a broad range of HR activities that contribute to a positive, fair, and inclusive workplace.

Key responsibilities

* Building effective working relationships with leaders to support delivery of People & Culture priorities
* Assisting with the implementation of change initiatives to support team and organisational outcomes
* Providing first‐level advice and guidance on employee relations matters, with support on more complex cases
* Supporting leaders to apply performance management practices and build team capability
* Assisting in the development and rollout of frameworks and initiatives, including remuneration and organisational structure activities
* Working with Organisational Development to support leadership development programs and people initiatives

What Makes You a Great Fit

You are a developing HR professional with around 2 years' experience in a HR Officer or Coordinator role, ready to take the next step in your career. You will bring a solid foundation in generalist HR and are keen to build your capability in an advisory capacity within a supportive, high‐performing team.

You have a working knowledge of employment legislation and industrial instruments, with some exposure to employee relations matters and a willingness to develop your confidence in managing more complex cases with guidance. You enjoy supporting initiatives across employee engagement, talent, and performance, and are motivated to grow your skills across the full employee lifecycle.

You are comfortable working in a fast‐paced environment, balancing operational tasks with opportunities to contribute to broader People & Culture initiatives. With strong communication skills and a proactive approach, you are eager to learn, build stakeholder relationships, and develop your ability to provide practical HR advice and coaching to leaders.

What We Offer

Join Fremantle Ports and be part of a proud organisation with a rich history and culture that makes a significant contribution to the WA economy.

Primarily based in Fremantle, you'll enjoy a unique workplace with stunning ocean views, rich heritage and striking architecture in the heart of the Victoria Quay precinct, which is currently undergoing exciting revitalisation. You'll also enjoy variety through occasional travel to our Kwinana facilities.

* Free onsite parking and access to a gymnasium
* Flexible working arrangements to support work‐life balance
* Generous annual leave entitlements
* Access to salary packaging
* Comprehensive health and wellbeing program

Fremantle Ports is committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse workforce culture, underpinned by our Values of Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence. We strive to attract, develop, and retain a high‐performing workforce by providing supportive pathways and development opportunities.
