About the opportunity
We are currently inviting applications for a Senior Audit and Compliance Officer to join the South Australian Government Financing Authority (SAFA) at the Department of Treasury & Finance for a 12-month period (with the possibility of ongoing). Remuneration: ASO5 – Salary Range ($89,007 - $98,991 p.a.). SAFA functions as the central financing authority, captive insurer and manager of the passenger and light commercial fleet operations for the Government of South Australia. SAFA plays an integral role in the overall management of the State Government's finances and risks, harnessing economies of scale and relevant expertise in wholesale financial markets and insurance markets to provide a range of treasury, insurance and vehicle fleet management services to public sector clients, set by its strategic direction.
Key responsibilities
* Contributing to the application of a high standard of quality control procedures in respect of all aspects of the processes and activities of the Audit and Compliance Section.
* Undertaking independent reviews of SAFA's internal control activities and business operations in accordance with the audit compliance program, using risk‐based principles and practices.
* Analysing and monitoring SAFA's level of compliance against approved policies and procedures, guidelines and limits associated with strategic and divisional risks inherent across the range of business activities of SAFA.
* Undertaking minor review projects that may be requested by senior management or the Risk and Performance Committee.
About you
* Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Economics, or another finance‐related discipline, and/or significant demonstrated experience in the areas of risk, audit and compliance.
* Sound knowledge of the principles and practices of effective risk management, audit and compliance.
* Experience in assurance reviews and compliance audits, including risk management, financial and process reviews.
* Strong analytical skills and attention to detail including ability to exercise sound judgement and make effective recommendations or decisions.
* Ability to work autonomously and capacity to work under broad direction.
