We are seeking an experienced and motivated Motel Manager to organise and control the operations of our motel, providing guest accommodation, meals and other services. The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall management of the establishment, ensuring high standards of service, compliance with all relevant legislation, and the efficient operation of all departments.
Key Duties and Responsibilities.
* Direct and oversee reservation, reception, room service and housekeeping activities to ensure efficient daily operations and high standards of guest service.
* Plan, coordinate and supervise bar, restaurant, function and conference activities, including menu planning, staffing levels and service quality.
* Supervise security arrangements, garden maintenance and property upkeep to ensure the safety and presentation of the premises.
* Manage, lead and develop staff across all departments, including recruitment, training, performance management, rostering and workplace relations.
* Oversee and manage accounting, budgeting, financial reporting and purchasing activities to ensure profitability and cost control.
* Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and regulations, including liquor licensing, gaming laws, food safety standards, occupational health and safety, and workplace health and safety requirements.
* Assess and review customer satisfaction through feedback mechanisms, online reviews and direct engagement, implementing improvements as required.
* Develop and implement operational policies, procedures and service standards to maintain consistent quality across all areas of the motel.
* Manage relationships with suppliers, contractors and service providers, negotiating contracts and agreements as required.
* Coordinate marketing and promotional activities, including online presence, social media and partnerships with local tourism operators.
* Provide guests with local tourism information and arrange tours, transportation and other concierge services as needed.
* Prepare and present regular operational and financial reports to the business owner(s) or management.
* Handle guest complaints and resolve issues promptly and professionally to maintain the reputation of the establishment.
* Manage human resources functions including staff scheduling, payroll oversight, leave management and compliance with employment legislation.
Skills and Experience.
Essential.
* A qualification assessed as comparable to an Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Diploma or higher in Hospitality Management, Hotel Management or a closely related field; OR at least three (3) years of relevant experience in a similar role.
* Demonstrated experience in the management and operation of a hotel, motel or similar accommodation establishment.
* Proven ability to manage and lead a team across multiple departments, including housekeeping, food and beverage, reception and maintenance.
* Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, cost control, reporting and purchasing.
* Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills.
* Sound knowledge of workplace health and safety legislation, food safety regulations, liquor licensing requirements and employment law.
* Ability to develop and implement policies, procedures and service standards.
* Strong organisational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
Desirable.
* Current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate or willingness to obtain.
* Experience in marketing and revenue management within the hospitality sector.
* First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
Employment Conditions
* Full-time position: minimum 38 hours per week.
* The position may require work on weekends, public holidays and evenings as required by the operational needs of the business.
* Superannuation contributions will be paid in accordance with legislative requirements.
* All other terms and conditions of employment will be in accordance with the applicable industrial instrument and Australian workplace laws.
