Your new company
Victorian State Government agency based in Geelong.
Your new role
As a Cloud Network Engineer, you will design and implement enterprise networking across on-premises, Azure, and AWS environments. You will deliver physical and virtual networking solutions, including edge routers, firewalls, hybrid connectivity (ExpressRoute/VPN), and cross-data-centre integrations.
You will work hands-on to build secure, resilient, and scalable network connectivity using Infrastructure-as-Code and automation, collaborating closely with architects and technical leads in a complex enterprise environment. Strong experience across multi-cloud networking, hybrid connectivity, and physical network infrastructure is essential.
Roles and Responsibilities
Design and implement enterprise network solutions across on-premises infrastructure, Azure, and AWS environments, aligned to approved architectures and standards.
Configure and support physical networking infrastructure, including edge routers, firewalls, switches, and associated connectivity services.
Implement and manage cloud networking components, including virtual networks, subnets, routing, network security controls, private endpoints, load balancers, and gateways.
Design and configure hybrid and cross-environment connectivity, including ExpressRoute, site-to-site VPNs, point-to-site VPNs, and inter-date-centre links.
Support multi-cloud networking patterns, including Azure-to-AWS connectivity, shared services networking, and future platform integrations.
Implement network security controls including firewalls, network security groups, routing policies, segmentation, and zero-trust networking principles.
Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code for network components using tools such as Terraform to enable consistent, repeatable deployments.
Automate network provisioning and configuration using scripting and CI/CD pipelines to reduce manual effort and configuration drift.
What you'll need to succeed
Demonstrated experience designing and implementing enterprise networking solutions across on-premises and cloud environments.
Strong hands-on experience with physical networking infrastructure, such as routers, firewalls, and switching platforms.
Proven experience with Azure networking, including virtual networks, ExpressRoute, VPNs, routing, loan balancing, and network security controls.
Experience with AWS networking constructs, including VPCs, subnets, routing tables, gateways, and connectivity services.
Strong understanding of hybrid and multi-cloud network architectures and integration patterns.
Experience using Infrastructure-as-Code tools (e.g., Terraform) to deploy and manage network infrastructure.
Solid knowledge of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, BGP, routing, DNS, NAT, and network segmentation.
Experience working in environments with strong security, availability, and compliance requirements.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills, particularly for complex connectivity and performance issues.
Ability to work effectively with architects, cloud engineers, security specialists, and external partners.
What you'll get in return
12-month contract + potential to extend.
Up to $850 + Super per day.
