Head Accountant / Group Accounts Manager
We are seeking a highly capable, hands on and commercially minded Head Accountant / Group Accounts Manager to take ownership of the financial operations across a diverse group of entities.
This is a senior leadership role suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys taking ownership of their role, and is confident managing both the detail and the bigger financial picture.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the Management Team and Directors, you will be responsible for the overall financial management, compliance, reporting, and performance of the Group. You will lead a small Accounts Team, ensure strong financial controls, and provide strategic insight to support business decisions and structure.
This role offers variety across multiple entities, including strong exposure to property and asset management.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee all financial operations across multiple entities
* Manage statutory compliance including ASIC, BAS, IAS, Income Tax, Payroll Tax, and Land Tax
* Prepare and deliver accurate financial reports and cashflow forecasts
* Manage MYOB/Xero systems and ensure data integrity
* Oversee banking relationships, loan facilities, and financial covenants
* Lead property-related financial matters including purchases and settlements
* Oversee payroll, subcontractor payments, and employee financial compliance
* Manage the Group's insurance portfolio
* Liaise with external accountants, advisors, and financial institutions
* Lead, mentor, and manage the Accounts Team to ensure high performance and accuracy
About You
* CPA or CA qualified (or working towards)
* Minimum 5+ years' experience in a senior or group accounting role
* Strong understanding of Australian tax and corporate compliance requirements
* Experience managing multiple entities (essential)
* Experience managing a minimum of 4-5 entities is required
* Property or asset-based industry experience highly regarded
* Strong leadership capability with a hands-on approach
* Highly organised, detail-oriented, and commercially aware
* Confident working directly with senior stakeholders and Directors
