If this sounds like you, we invite you to apply to join our dynamic team as a Manager, Analytics and Reporting where you will support the Essential Services Commission’s purpose to protect South Australian consumers by delivering high-quality analysis and data-based regulatory reports.

About the role

Reporting to the Director, Data Analytics and Reporting, the Manager, Analytics and Reporting is responsible for leading a team to deliver high-quality analysis, evidence-based advice and regulatory reports. The role drives innovation in how the Commission analyses performance data, compares outcomes with service standards, and communicates findings through public reporting.

Your responsibilities will include:

* Team Leadership: Lead, mentor and support a team of Data Analysts to build capability, foster innovation and ensure high standards of performance.
* Analytics and Reporting: Oversee the development and continuous improvement of analysis and reporting processes, ensuring data accuracy, accessibility and consistency across the Commission.
* Evidence-Based Advice: Prepare and present high-quality written and verbal evidence-based advice to support regulatory decisions.
* Enhancing Data Technology: Champion and adopt new technologies including advanced analytics, automation and AI-driven solutions to improve efficiency and insight.
* Performance Monitoring: Analyse performance data from regulated industries to provide regulatory advice.

About you

To be successful in this position, you will need to demonstrate:

* Leadership Capability: Demonstrated experience in leading people or teams, fostering a positive workplace culture, and supporting ongoing professional development.
* Analytical Expertise: Strong experience in undertaking financial, economic or operational analysis.
* Advanced Data Capability: Proven experience using data analysis and visualisation tools, including the Microsoft Office suite, and the ability to leverage AI to enhance analysis and reporting.
* Quality Communication Skills: High-level written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce clear, concise and evidence-based reports and presentations tailored to diverse audiences.
* Educational Background: A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline (eg data, economics, finance) is essential for this position.
* Values-Driven Approach: A genuine commitment to the Commission’s core values: accountability, collaboration, agility, respect, and integrity.

The Commission is a statutory authority established as an independent economic regulator and advisory body to protect the long-term interests of South Australian consumers with respect to the price, quality and reliability of essential services. We add long-term value to the South Australian community by meeting our objective through independent, ethical and expert regulatory decisions and the provision of robust advice to Government. Our role incorporates licensing, consumer protection, service standards, pricing, monitoring, compliance and public reporting in the water, electricity and gas industries, and access regulation of essential ports and rail infrastructure. We also provide advice and conduct Inquiries to inform the South Australian Government on economic and regulatory policy issues and provide advice to local government.

Special Conditions for Employment

* Employment is dependent upon the provision of a National Police Certificate that the Commission considers satisfactory.
* Some out of hours work may be required to meet critical deadlines.
* Some intrastate and or interstate travel may be required.
