Allied Health Assistant
As an Allied Health Assistant at St John of God Bendigo Hospital, you will provide both clinical and administrative support to physiotherapists, occupational therapists, nurses, and other therapy and nursing staff across all inpatient areas, including rehabilitation, acute wards, and critical care. The role may also involve weekend shifts and leave coverage when required.
Responsibilities
* Provide clinical assistance to physiotherapists, occupational therapists, nursing and other health care professionals as required.
* Actively monitor the environment and implement safe work practices to ensure patient and staff safety.
* Participate in staff education programs and involve in research activities as appropriate.
* Comply with hospital and department policies and procedures.
* Supervise and assist patients in exercise routines, gait activities and daily living activities as directed by the treating allied health care professional.
* Assist with patient treatment, transfers, dressing and showering (including hydrotherapy when applicable).
* Identify client circumstances that require additional input from the Allied Health Professional and communicate this in clinical handover.
* Be aware of contraindications, precautions and hazards related to specific patient management.
* Ensure that infection control procedures are strictly adhered to in all areas.
* Report all hazards regarding patients promptly to the treating allied health caregiver or Nurse Unit Manager.
Qualifications
* Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance.
* Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with a professional and empathetic approach.
* Strong commitment to maintaining confidentiality and well‐developed organisational abilities.
* Vaccinated against influenza as a requirement of the role.

* Salary: $38.89 – $39.74 per hour (casual loading included) plus 12% superannuation.
