Join a Leading North Queensland Communications & Telemetry Team
Austek is a locally owned and operated industrial electrical, automation, telemetry and communications company based in Cairns. We service North Queensland and remote regions from Townsville to the Torres Strait, delivering high-reliability communications systems in challenging and remote environments.
We are expanding our communications division and seeking an experienced Communications Tradespeople, with the opportunity for the right applicant to step into a Supervisor role.
What You'll Be Doing
* Install and align microwave links and wireless backhaul systems
* Install and maintain CCTV and security camera systems
* Perform Starlink and other satellite internet installations
* Undertake tower climbing, rigging, antenna installations and repeater site work
* Carry out basic bench-level diagnostics on Motorola, Tait and Icom radio equipment
* Service and fault-find telemetry and SCADA communication equipment
* Travel throughout the North Queensland region, including remote and island sites
* Work on projects accessed via 4WD, boat or helicopter
* Read and interpret RF diagrams, wiring schematics and technical documentation
Supervisor-Level Responsibilities (Optional)
* Lead and support a communications field team
* Assist with job planning, scheduling and remote-site coordination
* Provide technical guidance across microwave, tower, telemetry and satellite systems
* Oversee quality control, safety compliance and documentation

What You'll Need
* Qualification in communications, electronics, electrical or related field
* Experience with microwave links, radio systems or wireless communications
* Basic bench-level skills with Motorola, Tait and Icom equipment
* Ability to undertake tower climbing and work at heights (or willingness to obtain)
* CCTV, satellite or networking experience advantageous
* White Card and driver's licence
* Willingness to travel regularly throughout the region, including remote and overnight stays
* For Supervisor consideration: leadership experience, job-planning capability, or mentoring skills
