Grants Cakes & Pies has an opportunity for a skilled Baker to join our friendly team in Mount Isa.
This is a hands-on key production role within our bakery, responsible for the daily preparation and baking of our core bread and pastry product range.
The role suits a baker who values consistency, organisation and understands the rhythm of a busy bakery environment.
The position is full time (minimum 38 hours per week) plus reasonable overtime, with a salary package starting from $77,500 + super.
As a Baker, you will be producing high-quality breads, pastries and baked goods.
Your duties and responsibilities include:
* Mixing, scaling, shaping, proving and baking bread and other bakery items
* Following recipes, preparing batch sheets and production schedules
* Establishing and maintaining consistent product quality, weight and appearance
* Preparing products for display and packing
* Monitoring fermentation, bake times and oven performance
* Maintaining a clean, organised and food-safe work area
* Supporting stock rotation and ingredient management
* Working efficiently during early-morning and high-volume production runs
* Contributing to a positive, professional bakery team environment
Qualification and work experience
Relevant formal trade qualification
At least one year of professional experience
Sound knowledge of dough handling, fermentation and baking processes
Ability to develop and work to production schedules and meet daily volume targets
Strong attention to detail and product consistency
Physical stamina for early starts and hands-on production work
A calm, reliable approach in a fast-paced environment
Good understanding of food safety, hygiene and bakery compliance
A team-focused mindset and pride in producing consistently exceptional bread and baked goods
