Parent to Parent (P2P) has been supporting people with disabilities and their families for over 26 years. Our mission is to listen, with respect, to people with disabilities and their families and support them to achieve their goals. We do this by creating opportunities within the community to empower people with a disability and those who support them.
We're looking for a dynamic Program and Events Coordinator who is passionate about inclusion, leadership, community connection, peer-led change and events
The successful candidate will work alongside members of Loud and Clear Qld, a self-advocacy group for adults with intellectual disability.
Loud and Clear Qld just celebrated it's 10 year anniversary at its 5th annual conference
What you will do
* Build positive relationships with members, families and supporters.
* Support members to learn new skills, grow in confidence and increase their participation in the community raising awareness of disability rights and self advocacy.
* Mentor emerging leaders and create opportunities for members to connect with networks, stakeholders and decision makers.
* Work with members to plan and coordinate their meetings.
* Support the Project Officer with agendas, minutes and member coordination.
* Work with members to plan and coordinate their two-day annual Conference and Concert
* Represent P2P and build partnerships across the disability and broader community sectors.
* Manage basic financial processes (receipts, reconciliations and budget guidelines)
* Recognise the value of a well established group and use your initiative and creativity to take it to the next level.
Who you are
* A strong communicator and relationship-builder.
* Passionate about rights, voices, inclusion and peer-led advocacy.
* Organised, proactive and confident coordinating people and events.
* Comfortable engaging with community organisations, services and stakeholders.
* Able to work independently and as part of a supportive team.
* Lived experience of disability (personal or family/carer) is highly valued.
* You will have or a willing to obtain a Blue Card (Working with Children) and Yellow Card (NDIS Workers Screening Card)
