About the Role
The Supplier Quality Engineer ensures that all external suppliers meet the company's quality standards and regulatory requirements.
This role is pivotal in maintaining product integrity, reducing defects, and driving continuous improvement across the supply base.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement supplier quality assurance plans and audit schedules.
Conduct supplier assessments and audits to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
Collaborate with suppliers to resolve quality issues and drive corrective actions.
Analyse supplier performance data and report trends to internal stakeholders.
Support new supplier onboarding and qualification processes.
Work cross-functionally with purchasing, engineering, and manufacturing teams to align quality expectations.
Maintain documentation related to supplier quality, including inspection reports and non-conformance records.
Lead root cause analysis and implement preventive measures for recurring supplier issues.
Undertake other tasks and duties as reasonably requested.
Qualification and experience
Bachelor's degree in engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Management, or a related discipline (preferred).
3 years' experience in a similar role with experience in QC / QA within a manufacturing or metal fabrication environment.
Strong understanding of quality systems (ISO or equivalent) and regulatory compliance.
Proficiency in inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges) and techniques.
Demonstrated expertise in developing and implementing CAPA and statistical process control (SPC) with proven results in measurable improvement.
Strong knowledge of industry standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices in quality management and process control.
Highly skilled in root cause analysis, problem-solving methodologies, and the use of quality tools such as Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, ISO standards.
Familiarity with ERP and quality management systems (QMS) is preferred.
Excellent communication, time management, and organisational skills.
