The duties of a police officer
As a general duties police officer, no two days are ever the same. General duties officers are at the forefront of Victoria Police and undertake a variety of duties on shift including:
working with the community
preventing anti-social behaviour
promoting public safety
enforcing road safety

About you
There is no one key attribute, skill, or experience that Victoria Police looks for in our candidates. Instead, it's your overall suitability for the role. Here's what we look for:
people who are 18 years or older
strong communication skills (verbal and written)
healthy level of fitness
good character and reputation
Australian citizens or Australian permanent residents (New Zealand citizens must have a Special Category visa or the ability to obtain one to apply)
an Australian or New Zealand driver licence, however, you must transfer to a Victorian licence before commencing employment (probationary licence is acceptable)
Salary and benefits

Starting salary as a sworn constable: $81,612 plus allowances per annum
Shift penalties and overtime payments, with wage progression as you advance
Excellent work life balance with up to nine weeks recreation leave and 16 weeks parental leave, plus study leave, long-service leave and additional superannuation
Paid training: salary of $59,405 per annum during 12 weeks of training at the Victoria Police Academy
Salary and benefits are as per the current Victoria Police Enterprise Agreement.

Previous policing experience
