The Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated deckhand to assist with towage operations by manning vessels, plant, and equipment as directed by the vessel master, engineer, or management. Reporting to the Manager Towage and the Tug Master onboard, the position also involves general maintenance of the vessels.
This is a casual position covering the North West Tasmania region.
Responsibilities
* Manning vessel, plant and equipment as directed.
* Complete maintenance tasks, including painting, deck and/or engine room maintenance, rope splicing.
* Watch keeping and vessel keeping duties as directed by vessel Master.
* Flexibility to assist in towage operations and contract work at times in other areas within the state, in particular assisting from time to time in other ports and with other crews within the organisation.
* Ensure a safe working environment is achieved and maintained and participating in all TasPorts HSE systems and initiatives.
Qualifications
* Proven experience at sea or within the maritime industry.
* General Purpose Hand Certificate of Competency or equivalent qualification.
* OH&S Safety at Sea Certification.
* Current Provide First Aid certification.
* Master Class qualification or the ability to obtain certification (desirable).
