About The Role And Team
We have an opportunity for a Senior Business Development & Bids Advisor to join our national Business Development, Marketing & Communications team based in Melbourne, Sydney or Canberra.
The role is responsible for working with partners on the BD, marketing and comms strategy across the national Public Sector Industry Group, with a strong focus on the Commonwealth government portfolio.
While a generalist role, it will have a particular emphasis on developing high-quality pitches and writing content as well as providing advice on messaging, relationship management and contractual obligations and client expectations.
You will be responsible for:
* working with the Bids & Pursuits team on firm and government tender submissions;
* drafting new content and shaping existing content to suit client needs and evaluation criteria;
* leading a range of other opportunistic bids, such as proposals and capability statements;
* working on directory and award submissions;
* updating content for the government sections, including credentials, brochures and CVs for the team;
* developing strong knowledge and understanding of the Commonwealth government and identifying business development opportunities. Advising and supporting these initiatives;
* advising and supporting the Public Sector partners and senior lawyers on strategic brand promotion, business development, marketing and practice development strategies;
* developing relationships with partners and senior lawyers across the national Public Sector group;
* working with the Communications team to identify and action external profiling opportunities;
* leading relevant government and industry association relationships, including sponsorships, ensuring we are leveraging the best opportunities; and
* working with the Events team on planning and delivery of Public Sector client events, as well as involvement in national firm events.
About You
You will ideally have the following skills and experience:
* relevant tertiary qualifications;
* at least seven years of experience in a marketing and/or business development position, ideally within a law firm or professional services environment;
* a strong understanding of the Commonwealth government with a dedicated focus on bids, tenders, pitching and positioning strategies with Commonwealth clients and priority targets;
* exceptional writing skills are essential with the ability to craft clear, compelling and client-focused content;
* ability to build and maintain effective working relationship with key firm stakeholders;
* strong influencing and negotiation skills;
* proficient in Microsoft Office with advanced Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
* excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact at all levels;
* excellent written and communication skills;
* strong attention to detail;
* ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines;
* flexible approach and good persistence;
* proactive and strong problem-solving abilities;
* team player; and
* highly organised with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks.
