We are looking for a Senior Group Corporate Counsel to join our in-house Legal team, with an initial focus on managing the legal workstream for Cuscal's CPS230 program.
The Senior Group Corporate Counsel is responsible for providing strategic legal guidance and leadership to support Cuscal's operations within the highly regulated payments processing industry. The Senior Group Corporate Counsel ensures that Cuscal adheres to all applicable laws, regulations and internal policies, while proactively managing legal risks and supporting business growth.
You'll also make an impact by:
* Providing expert legal advice across a broad range of areas and identify solutions to eliminate or mitigate legal and regulatory risk.
* Advisingon or set internal policies where applicable.
* Ensuringthat the Executive Leadership Team is informed of new or proposed legislation or regulatory activity that may affect Cuscal's operations and have oversight as necessary to ensure regulatory changes are fully embedded in the business.
* Negotiating, drafting and settling all major client contracts, vendor contracts, and other commercial arrangements to safeguard Cuscal's interest.
* Work closely with the Chief Legal and People Officer on corporate actions including M&A and capital raisings.
* Procuring, retaining and managing external legal providers as appropriate in conjunction with the Head of Legal and Chief Legal and People Officer, particularly where risk or specialisation require external advice.
* Ensuring all intellectual property rights (including trademarks, patents and processes) are protected and in good standing.
What you'll bring
You're a strategic thinker with an inquisitive nature; you have excellent communications skills and an ability to identify and mitigate legal risks. You thrive in a fast-paced, environment and are driven to contribute to a dynamic team.
To succeed in this role, you'll have the following experience:
* Minimum of 7 years of post-admission experience, with a strong background in corporate, commercial and regulatory law within the financial services or payments industry.
* Knowledge of Australian financial regulations, including ASIC and APRA requirements.
* Experience managing complex contract negotiations and drafting agreements, particularly with financial institutions and service providers.
* Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide clear, actionable legal advice in a fast-paced environment.
* Strong negotiation skills, able to balance legal risk with commercial objectives while managing stakeholder expectations.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to present complex legal concepts to both legal and non-legal audiences.
* Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including regulators, senior executives and business teams.
* High attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and thoroughness in all legal documentation and communications.
