Your Opportunity
Based in Berriedale, Hobart, Chigwell House is a community hub that takes a holistic approach to addresses homelessness and barriers to independence by providing services, information, and events for vulnerable people. Services include People Staying Connected, Integrated Family Support Service, Youth Beat, and Disability Employment Services.
As part of the Youth Beat team, you will find this is a rewarding career opportunity where you will be responsible for assessing, responding, and supporting the varying needs of vulnerable young people requiring support. This is achieved using a client focused case management approach within a holistic client centred therapeutic framework.
The hours for this position are Monday to Friday 12:30pm to 5:00pm - No early morning starts!
Your Key Responsibilities 
- Facilitate mobile outreach engagement and support to vulnerable young people aged 8 to 18 who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. 
- Support targeted to young people who present with multiple support needs and are facing multiple risk challenges. 
- Provide trauma informed, person centred support to vulnerable young people using culturally secure, and solution focused approaches. 
- Use your skills and understanding of current issues impacting young people to build rapport and engage with young people within their local community. 
- Work collaboratively with key stakeholders and the Youth Beat team to ensure young people, have the best opportunity for success.
Requirements for Success
With a significant background in the _child, youth & family,_ homelessness, social work, health, human_ _services_, or other social science disciplines, you will be confident in your support and assessment processes. Other requirements include:
- Relevant Tertiary Qualifications and experience in Youth work or related field 
- Proven assertive outreach work experience in engaging and supporting at risk young people. 
- Experience and ability to work with at risk young people including knowledge of child and adolescent development. 
- Strong assessment, and crisis intervention skills, including working with people experiencing alcohol and other drug use issues, mental health issues, disengaged from education, and family conflict. 
- Demonstrated experience working with First Nations people and communities. 
- Strong time management and administration skills, including computer skills in Microsoft Office, and ability to adopt Mission Australia's web-based Information Managements system (training will be provided) 
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills including report writing and data collection. 
- Ability to work within a small and multi-disciplinary team and with mínimal supervision. 
- Must have Full driver licence with no restrictions.
Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
