About the team – The Events and Sports Camps team sits within the Campus Experience Branch of the Australian Sports Commission and plays a central role in bringing the AIS campus to life. The team is responsible for coordinating, optimising and delivering access to the AIS' world-class venues, accommodation and facilities for high-performance sport, National Sporting Organisations, community users and commercial clients. Working at the intersection of elite sport, major events and commercial operations, the events team delivers complex events that support Australia's sporting success while creating memorable experiences for athletes, partners and the public. About the role –

* We are seeking to fill an ONGOING ASC Grade 5 (APS 6 equivalent) Senior Event Manager position based in Canberra.
* We are also establishing a MERIT POOL for an ASC Grade 4 (APS 5 equivalent) Event Manager role for potential future opportunities.

As the Senior Event Manager, you will lead the planning and delivery of high-quality, complex events on the AIS campus, bringing together elite sport, commercial outcomes and exceptional customer experience. You will be the key point of contact for clients and partners, shaping events from concept through to delivery and post-event review, while working closely with internal teams across operations, facilities, WHS and the AIS Arena. In this role, you will balance creativity with commercial discipline, oversee budgets and suppliers, and provide confident on-the-ground leadership during live events. You will join a collaborative, fast-paced team that values professionalism, problem-solving and teamwork, where no two days are the same and your work has a visible impact on the success and vibrancy of Australia's premier elite sports precinct.

About you – You are an experienced and motivated events professional who brings a strong mix of commercial, operational and stakeholder capability. As an ASC Grade 4 Event Manager, you will demonstrate:

* Experience in bookings and coordination of events within a commercial and/or a high-performance sports environment.
* Experience developing risk management plans for events.
* Experience working with a Customer Relationship Management system (CRM), booking management software or similar business applications. Specific understanding of SIHOT as a system would be highly regarded.
* Highly developed communication skills and a proven ability to engage, build and maintain effective relationships both internally and externally with a diverse range of stakeholders
* Demonstrated ability to cooperate and work well with other teams in a cross-functional environment to achieve organisational goals
* Demonstrated experience in providing excellent customer experience and handling sensitive situations in a mature and effective manner.

Additional to the above, as an ASC Grade 5 Senior Event Manager you will demonstrate:

* Experience at negotiating with promoters and drafting commercial contracts and quotes (5 plus years)
* Experience developing risk management plans for events.
* Record of meeting organisational and business objectives with the ability to think creatively and strategically to solve problems.
* Experience leading a team and mentoring junior staff.
* Ability to provide informed advice and detailed reports to senior management to support decision making.
* Experience in administration of financial accounts.
