We are a forward-thinking company at the cutting edge of composite materials manufacturing, known for pushing boundaries and delivering world-class engineering solutions. Due to continued growth and exciting new projects, we're looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our high-performing team. This is a workshop-based role south of the river, offering a dynamic environment and the chance to work on impactful R&D and manufacturing initiatives.
About the Role
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you'll be responsible for developing and refining multi-disciplinary engineering designs and feasibility studies. From creating innovative concepts to detailed technical analysis, your work will contribute directly to the development of state-of-the-art composite technologies.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the concept design and development of products/systems using CAD and CAE tools.
* Apply FEA to assess product safety and integrity.
* Manage and document designs, calculations, and product lifecycle data using PLM systems.
* Assist in equipment procurement, materials selection, and cost estimation.
* Ensure all designs meet safety, functional, and regulatory standards.
* Produce detailed engineering drawings and oversee prototype development.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams for mechanical integration and project success.
* Troubleshoot and enhance existing products, proposing innovative improvements.
* Support testing and evaluation of new designs for performance and reliability.
About You
* Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
* Minimum 5 years' mechanical design experience.
* Proficient in CAD (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor) and FEA tools.
* Strong understanding of materials science, thermodynamics, and mechanical systems.
* Experience with composite materials, CFD, and workshop-based prototyping is highly desirable.
* Excellent problem-solving and documentation skills.
* Strong communication and ability to work collaboratively.
