Position overview

The Australian National University (ANU) is seeking a highly capable Executive Officer to support the Interim Vice-Chancellor and President and work of the Office of the Interim Vice-Chancellor. This role is integral to driving the achievement of strategic goals and ensuring the efficient operation of the Office of the Interim Vice-Chancellor (OIVC) at the highest standards.

As the Executive Officer, you will play a key role in managing the business flow of the O IVC, coordinating key committees and meetings such as the Strategic Leadership Group and University Leadership Group, and provide high-level strategic advice and stewardship on business processes. You will collaborate closely with senior university executives and their office’s, academic and professional staff, government agencies, and other key stakeholders to deliver outcomes that align with the University's priorities.

We are looking for an exceptional strategic thinker with the ability to work across multiple projects in a fast-paced, high-profile environment. Your skill set will include:

* Strong strategic capacity, and proven ability to exercise judgement and discretion in a high-profile, confidential environment.
* The ability to work at a high level, completing complex strategic tasks rapidly and accurately.
* Excellent organisational skills with the demonstrated ability to prioritise competing demands, whilst maintaining attention to detail and exercising sound judgement while working autonomously and within a team;
* Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral, including confidence and ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders; and
* Detailed knowledge of challenges facing the Australian higher education sector, and the strategic context of the ANU, would be an advantage.
* Demonstrated ability to oversee and provide strategic input to ensure decision making for the university flows appropriately.
* The role also provides executive and secretariat support to the Interim Vice-Chancellor and key Senior/Executive Committees.

The Person
You are a highly organised, proactive professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment. You bring experience in executive support and/or project coordination, a strong understanding of governance and university operations, and the ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments with discretion and professionalism.

Our ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in providing high level executive support and ability to ensure the efficient day-to-day operations of the Office. You will develop and maintain relationships both internally within the University, including with the Office of the Interim Vice Chancellor and Office of the Chief Operating Officer, and externally with stakeholders, demonstrating discretion, sound judgement and diplomacy to effectively manage these relationships.
