APS 6 Data Specialist

• Contract: ASAP start until 30 June 2026 | Potential 3-month extension
• Location: Canberra-based (Hybrid)
• Eligibility: Australian Citizenship required | Baseline security clearance required

A Federal Government program is seeking APS 6 Data Specialists to support the uplift of data capability across a large, complex delivery program. This is a hands‐on, delivery-focused role, ideal for candidates who enjoy working with unstructured data and transforming it into reliable, decision‐ready insights.

You will work closely with a senior data lead and program stakeholders to improve data structures, reporting, and analytics that support program management and oversight.

Key Responsibilities

• Review, consolidate, and manage data from multiple sources
• Clean, standardise, and validate complex datasets to improve accuracy and consistency
• Support the development of logical data frameworks and models
• Build and maintain dashboards and reports using Power BI
• Improve the automation, consistency, and repeatability of reporting processes
• Prepare data outputs for senior stakeholders, program managers, and external reporting
• Document data definitions, assumptions, and reporting logic to support governance, audit, and business continuity

Skills & Experience

• Strong experience in data analysis and reporting within complex program environments
• Advanced Excel skills and hands‐on experience with Power BI
• Proven ability to work with fragmented and high-volume datasets
• Experience supporting program management or delivery-focused teams
• Background in large‐scale government programs highly regarded
• Strong stakeholder engagement, communication, and documentation skills
