Job Title: Automotive Technician

Our client is a reputable and well-established brand with over 40 years of experience in the automotive services industry. They are currently seeking a highly skilled Automotive Technician to join their team.
Duties & Responsibilities:

* Discuss problems with vehicle drivers or operators to discover faults, listen to engines, use special test equipment, and test-drive vehicles to ascertain faults.
* Identify problems, determine the relationship between cause and effect, and examine information from different sources to determine the best course of action.
* Complete vehicle details on requisition orders – kilometers, engine number, registration number, etc.
* Perform scheduled maintenance services, such as oil changes, and ensure compliance with pollution regulations.
* Follow Logbook scheduled maintenance as per vehicle manufacturers' guidelines.
* Inspect vehicles to render them safe for the road.
* Operate all equipment and tools safely and correctly while maintaining their condition.
* Diagnose and test parts with the assistance of computers.
* Test and repair basic electrical circuits.
* Perform repairs on exhaust systems and heating/cooling systems.
* Repair or replace worn and faulty parts by removing assemblies such as engines, transmissions, differentials, or steering gear; dismantle them and check parts, referring to manuals as necessary.
* Reassemble, test, clean, and adjust repaired or replaced parts or assemblies; use various instruments to make sure they are working properly, and put them back into the vehicle.
* Perform preventive maintenance, such as checking fluid levels, brake systems, steering, generating, ignition, and electrical wiring systems.
* Tune engines using special electronic equipment and make fine adjustments, e.g., to carburettor/electronic fuel injection for smoother running.
* Carry out minor body repairs and minor trim repairs.
* Diagnose, repair, and replace engine management/fuel injection components.
* Use oxy, electric, and MIG welders.
* Use electronic test equipment to locate and correct malfunctions in lighting, instrumentation, electronic fuel injection, ignition, and emissions control systems.
* Inspect vehicles for roadworthiness and/or list the work required before a certificate can be issued.
* Supervise apprentices when required.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
\
* Australian recognized or equivalent automotive technician qualification – certificate 3 or above.
* Experience with electronic diagnostic equipment.
* Current driver's license without restrictions and full Australian working rights.
* Maintain the appearance and presentation of service areas as well as ensure tools and equipment are clean and tidy at all times.
* Return specialist tools and reference materials to their designated locations.
* Ensure hazardous substances are disposed of appropriately.
* Follow occupational health and safety practices.

Benefits:
\
* Full-time hours.
* $30-$35 per hour based on experience.
* Monday to Friday, 8 am – 5 pm.
* Saturday, 8 am – 12 pm (overtime rates apply).
