Purpose of the Role
BGIS is seeking an experienced Area Contract Manager to oversee a significant residential housing portfolio. Based in Cardiff, you'll act as the senior responsible officer in the local operations hub, ensuring contract performance and delivery outcomes are optimised in partnership with both internal teams and the client.
Reporting to the Account Director, you will lead operational teams, manage subcontractors, and ensure financial targets are met while continuously improving service performance.
The ideal candidate will be a collaborative leader with strong business acumen, a strategic mindset, and a hands-on approach to delivering client outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Cardiff Operations Hub in delivering facilities services across a large residential portfolio
- Build and manage effective client relationships to ensure contract satisfaction and renewal
- Manage contract performance, budgets, and P&L against KPIs and financial targets
- Provide leadership to operational and supervisory staff, including training and development
- Oversee contractor engagement and performance metrics
- Identify opportunities for service innovation, efficiency, and client value-add
- Drive risk minimisation and compliance across all operations
Education, Experience & Skills
Essential:
- Proven experience managing large-scale facilities or housing contracts
- Strong leadership skills with a history of team development and engagement
- Financial and business acumen, including budgeting and margin reviews
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to interpret and manage contract obligations
Desirable:
- Qualifications in building, engineering, or technical services
- Postgraduate qualifications in Business or MBA
- Vendor capacity building experience
