Our Client is a large ACT Government digital and technology directorate responsible for delivering secure, enterprise-scale ICT platforms that support essential public services across the territory.
About the role:
We are seeking a Senior Oracle Database Engineer and Linux Specialist to support and enhance the ACT Government’s enterprise Oracle and Unix/Linux platforms.
This is a hands-on senior technical role within a highly secure, large-scale government environment supporting mission-critical systems across health, education, and public services.
Responsibilities include:
* Provide day-to-day administration and operational support for enterprise Oracle and Unix/Linux environments
* Maintain, patch, and upgrade Oracle databases across SPARC and x86 platforms
* Support and enhance Oracle technologies including:
o Oracle RAC / Minicluster
o Oracle E-Business Suite R12 (12.2+)
o Oracle Fusion, WebLogic, ORDS
* Administer Solaris, RedHat, and Oracle Linux systems, including system hardening and auditing
* Design and implement automation using tools such as Ansible
* Support Linux workloads hosted in Microsoft Azure
* Work closely with application and service teams to troubleshoot incidents and prevent recurrence
* Produce high-quality technical documentation, SOPs, and incident reports
* Participate in an after-hours on-call roster as required
Skills and Experience:
* Proven senior experience in enterprise Oracle database and Unix/Linux administration
* Strong background in Solaris SPARC environments
* Deep hands-on experience with Oracle EBS, RAC, WebLogic, ORDS, and Fusion
* Strong Linux systems administration skills across RedHat and Oracle Linux
* Experience supporting virtualised and cloud-hosted Linux environments (Azure preferred)
* Ability to work independently in a highly regulated, security-conscious environment
* Clear written and verbal communication skills, particularly for technical documentation
Eligibility
* Australian citizenship is mandatory
* Ability to obtain and maintain AGSVA NV1 security clearance
