Demonstrated capacity to manage the work of other staff and contractors to develop procedures, guidelines and calendars relating to maintenance of an organisation or school facilities. KSC 3. Demonstrated ability and experience in organising and determining work priorities required of the School Facilities and Building Manager position. This will include the flexibility and responsiveness to undertake unscheduled or emergency work. KSC 4. Sound knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Management Systems and Work Safe procedures to identity, manage and provide solutions to risks identified within the school. KSC 5. Demonstrated capacity to use ICT platforms that are designed to manage the maintenance, repairs and service schedules of the school. KSC 6. Demonstrated commitment to professional learning and growth for both self and others. Role Attendance requirement for this position of 10 days, this is negotiable. Range 3 is distinguished by the introduction of management responsibility and accountability for the delivery of professional support services. The role will usually impact beyond the work area or professional field. It seeks to gain cooperation of other staff members or members of the school community to achieve specific objectives, such as in school administration, operations or educational programs. Direction on targets and goals is provided but the position will have some degree of latitude in determining how they are achieved. This latitude will generally be limited by standard procedures and school policy. Deviation from standard procedures and school policy will require guidance and direction from senior management. The provision of business management responsibilities becomes a feature at range 3. Management of staff to achieve the expected outcomes is a key responsibility. Staff management issues will be resolved with minimal reference to senior management, although guidance will be required in more complex cases. Senior management will be provided with timely reports and advice, although this will generally be confined to matters relating to the immediate work area, service provision or educational program and is unlikely to impact substantially on whole of school operations. This is the minimum range for positions that carry a mandatory qualification requirement of not less than four years. Professional student support positions become a feature at range 3 (e.g. therapists, psychologists) where standard professional services are delivered. Professional support and guidance will be close at hand and deviation from standard procedures and school policy will require guidance and direction from senior management. An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students, but must not include duties of teaching as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. Supervision of students cannot be required except where it is an integral part of the employee¿s position or involves supervision of students individually or in small groups, in controlled circumstances, where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher. Responsibilities Role Description The Facilities and Building Management person will, under the direction of the Principal/Campus Principal/Business Manager, be responsible for the maintenance of buildings and associated structures under the direction of the manager, to ensure that all areas are maintained regularly. Ensure weekly, monthly and annual tasks are performed within timelines as outlined by the manager. Undertake required training/professional development should it be required. This position is primarily located at the Wurun Senior Campus. This position will involve working across both Wurun Senior Campus and Fitzroy High School 7-10 Campus at times with the Operations Manager at the FHS 7 ¿ 10 Campus. Responsibilities The responsibilities of the Facilities and Building Management position include but are not limited to: Maintaining and improving the school grounds (especially gardens and recreation areas), facilities and buildings Undertaking regular routine inspections and identifying issues requiring maintenance. Undertaking routine repairs, cleaning and maintenance of the facilities. Work with contractors to attend to tasks that require registered tradespeople and ensure OHS requirements in relation to sub-contractors are met. Undertaking small building projects and painting as required. Repairing /maintaining furniture as required. Liaising with the Operations Manager and Business Manager on a regular basis. Liaising and working with the Operations Manager on all matters related to recording, scheduling and completing items in the AIMS system. Attending regular Facilities/Maintenance Meetings with the management team. Willingness to learn the Building Management System and under the direction and support of the Campus Principal and IT Manager assist with the day to day use of the Building Management System. Supporting staff in relocating furniture and equipment. Ensure that tools and equipment are in a serviceable condition and report any faults to the Business Manager OHS Management Delegate for the Wurun Senior Campus. Working with the Operations Manager and Campus Principal to ensure all OHS policies and procedures, as per the OHS Management Delegate responsibilities, are adhered to. Ensure that the maintenance sheds/storage areas are always clean and orderly in accordance with OH&S principles Carpentry, plumbing and brickwork repairs as determined within skill capacity Working together with the management team to ensure that occupational health & safety guidelines and requirements are met Comply with legislated occupational health and safety practices and participate in consultative processes Observe safe work practices in accordance with school policy, training, and instructions Identify, report, and where appropriate, action risks/hazards in order to eliminate or mitigate against the risk recurring (Risks arising in the workplace may be financial, site, task, or person specific or related to safety.) Promote and implement occupational health and safety and risk mitigation processes within the School Other duties as directed by the Principal/ Campus Principal or the Business Manager. The school delivers a year 7-12 curriculum to over 500 Students. As well as students from Collingwood College enrolled in our shared senior Campus for year¿s 11 and 12. The school is surrounded by residential housing, local shopping precincts and extensive parklands. It primarily serves students from the local area and nearby suburbs. Many students ride their bikes and walk to school. There are extensive public transport network close to the school that provide easy access for the school community and for excursions.
