Senior Lecturer in Functional Foods and Ingredients – Full‐time, permanent position to commence in September 2026. Base salary range is $143,099 – $164,748 plus 17% superannuation (Academic LevelC). Based at the StLucia Campus.
About the Opportunity
Your work will include teaching, research and engagement across functional foods, food science and technology. You will contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate programmes on the StLucia campus and may also teach at the Gatton campus. The role will advance collaborations internally and externally, including with UQ's Queensland Alliance for Agriculture and Food Innovation (QAAFI).
Key Responsibilities
* Teaching – Demonstrate an established record of effective teaching in functional foods and food science across undergraduate, honours and postgraduate programmes, including curriculum design, course coordination, delivery, assessment and student support on the StLucia and Gatton campuses.
* Research – Maintain an active, high‐quality research profile that produces peer‐reviewed publications and other discipline‐appropriate outputs. Lead or co‐lead competitive research funding, driving translation of research into real‐world impact and potential commercialisation of UQ intellectual property.
* Supervision & Researcher Development – Provide high‐quality supervision to HDR, Honours and Masters students, fostering researcher capability, professional development and responsible conduct of research.
* Leadership & Service – Lead and manage staff effectively across the employee lifecycle, mentor colleagues, contribute to internal service roles and committees, and support university values.
Qualifications
* PhD in food science, biochemistry, biotechnology or a closely related discipline, and/or appropriate postdoctoral training in functional foods, bioactives and/or ingredients.
* Established profile in teaching and research in functional foods/ingredients, with evidence of a high level of quality teaching across a variety of settings.
* Strong track record of course coordination, curriculum design and continuous innovation of new programmes.
* National recognition with an internationally developing profile and a record of publications in reputed refereed journals and conference presentations.
* Strong record of securing, managing and reporting external research funding, including from the food industry.
