An exciting opportunity is available to join the Midwifery team at Campbelltown Hospital in the brand-new state of the art building.
This position is for a Registered Midwife looking for a permanent full time or part time position with our service. The successful applicant will join our team of midwives working in the brand new 10 bed Antenatal Ward, with SWSLHD first 24/7 antenatal assessment unit (AAU).
Your role will be to ensure optimal outcomes for women and their families who have required antenatal admission and/or assessment or who may be undergoing specialised procedures. As a midwife working within the service this will be achieved through the promotion of best practice including the appropriate escalation of care, working collaboratively, and utilising effective team communication with members of the multidisciplinary health team in the planning, implementation, assessment and evaluation of the care of the woman.
The Registered Midwife acts as an advocate for the specific needs of all women and their families entering the service including those from the Aboriginal population or multi-cultural groups.

What You'll Be Doing
The midwife is a responsible and accountable professional who works in partnership with women to give the necessary support, care and advice during pregnancy, labour and the postpartum period, to conduct births on the midwife's own responsibility and to provide care for the newborn and the infant.

Where You'll Be Working
You will be working in a small team with very passionate midwives, doctors and management that will work closely with women and their families to continually provide excellent care to women requiring admission in the antenatal period.
We have a ward specific Clinical Midwifery Educator as well as the support of a Clinical Midwifery Consultant on site 5 days a week. Maternity services at Campbelltown also offer after hours support through a CME & CMS2 7 days a week. Our service is dedicated and excited to be able to support the ongoing clinical development of midwives and advance their skills. As a unit and team, we are highly supportive of providing staff who may have limited experience in high-risk antenatal care and assessment the opportunity to develop their skills within our team. The unit will also offer midwives 12 hour shifts for those interested.
The unit offers women of the Macarthur region a four bed assessment service for antenatal presentations including but not limited to, decreased fetal movements, external cephalic version, term ruptured membranes, continuous fetal monitoring, induction of labor, etc.
We will also be providing support and care for women who have or are experiencing a 2nd trimester pregnancy loss.
Campbelltown Hospital, a major metropolitan hospital, and Camden Hospital, a district hospital, operate under a common executive management structure and have networked services.
Camden and Campbelltown Hospitals provide a diverse range of services including intensive care, cardiology, maternity, gynaecology, paediatrics, palliative care, respiratory and stroke medicine, surgery and emergency medicine and broad aged care services. The Hospitals deliver quality health care to the residents of the three local government areas of Wollondilly, Camden and Campbelltown.
1. Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Midwife with Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
2. Demonstrated recent experience as a Registered Midwife in an environment appropriate to the relevant specialty
3. Demonstrated ability to provide safe compassionate quality care that is culturally responsive
4. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and engage with patients/consumers, families, carers and the multidisciplinary health care team to identify and ensure responsiveness of care needs
5. Demonstrated capacity to interact with others in a personable and professional manner and personally resolve conflicts when they arise
6. Demonstrated evidence of the use of critical thinking as it relates to the delivery of evidenced based midwifery care
7. Demonstrated understanding and participation in risk management, work health and safety and quality improvement in the workplace.
