About Carrapateena
Located 472 kilometres north-west of Adelaide, South Australia, Carrapateena is part of our Minerals Australia operations, within the Copper South Australia province. The mine is located on the traditional land of the Kokatha people and produces copper concentrate. This position is based at Carrapateena, operating on an 8/6 day shift roster with some night shift swings with FIFO (from Adelaide or Port Augusta).
About The Role
Reporting to the Underground Fixed Plant Maintenance Superintendent, the Material Handling System Supervisor (MHS) plays a key role in ensuring the operational tasks associated with the MHS system are carried out safely and effectively to support Carrapateena's production targets. The MHS system consists of conveyors, transfer chutes and feeders located underground and on the surface. The role also focuses heavily on housekeeping standards, basic conveyor belt inspections and maintenance.
A typical day
A typical day begins with a pre‐shift meeting with the underground maintenance team, followed by deployment of the team to complete daily tasks. You will spend time in the field, performing field leadership activities, and manage administration, review completed jobs, provide inputs to the plan for the following week, and develop documents. You will ensure smooth transition between day/night crews and liaise with maintenance supervisors to keep operations running safely.
Responsibilities
* Integrate with maintenance counterparts to ensure effective, proactively planned maintenance to minimise unplanned downtime
* Be responsible for plant operators within the material handling system
* Ensure daily operational tasks are completed, prioritising tasks to suit operational requirements
* Be responsible for conveyor belt operation, identifying issues and escalating to maintenance team in a timely manner
* Review work practices to ensure best practice
* Work with training department to ensure teams have suitable skills and progression plans
* Maintain high housekeeping standards for all equipment
About You
* Organised and motivated with proven high housekeeping standards
* Talented in driving and implementing safety & performance initiatives in line with BOS Practices
* Outstanding planning and organisation skills, able to execute urgent and planned tasks independently
* Resilient under pressure, capable of working 12‐hour shifts
* Effective communicator across levels and disciplines
* Experience in heavy industry/warehouse environments where organisation skills were critical
* Skilled in building and developing team capability through coaching and development
* Experience with SAP is advantageous
* Conveyor experience is a strong advantage
* Extensive experience driving a manual vehicle
* Trade qualifications relevant are advantageous
* Supervisory experience is advantageous
