Job Description
As we continue our growth journey in Australia and the APAC region, we are looking to speak with high-quality lawyers in the Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT) space to join our Melbourne office. This is a broad and flexible role offering exposure to a wide range of technology-driven commercial work, spanning advisory, transactional and strategic matters for sophisticated clients across both regulated and non-regulated sectors.
The role will involve advising on a variety of commercial technology and IP‐led matters, including complex services agreements, outsourcing and managed services arrangements, cloud and platform agreements, and AI‐related deals. You will also work on IP ownership, licensing and commercialisation matters, supporting clients to commercialise technology, data and other intangible assets, including in collaborative, joint venture and innovation‐driven environments. Alongside this, there will be opportunities to advise on complex business change and transformation projects where regulatory frameworks, operational considerations and risk allocation are key, with particular exposure to sectors such as energy, utilities and other critical infrastructure.
Qualifications
* Be a qualified lawyer with five to eight years' experience;
* Strong drafting, negotiation and matter management skills across a range of transactional technology and commercial matters;
* Demonstrated experience delivering complex technology and commercial transactions in regulated sectors, including navigating regulatory overlays, regulatory risk allocation and stakeholder complexity (energy and/or critical infrastructure experience highly regarded);
* Demonstrated ability to mentor and support the development of junior lawyers, including providing practical guidance on matters, sharing technical expertise and contributing to a collaborative team environment;
* Strong organisational skills, with the ability to assimilate information quickly and handle multiple priorities under pressure or within tight timeframes;
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to liaise with clients and diverse stakeholder audiences;
* Be commercially aware and enthusiastic about business development;
* Enjoy working in a fast-paced high-performing team, and
* Bring energy and passion to the role!
Benefits
* We have a global reach and a local feel. With 30 offices and 2000 lawyers operating across Asia Pacific, Europe, Africa and the Middle East, you'll be exposed to domestic, international and multi-jurisdictional high-profile work, yet be in an office where everyone knows your name.
* We do things a bit differently. Legal services are at the core of our business, however we have diversified into other areas providing complimentary services to clients through offerings like Vario flexible services.
* We like to be flexible. Our firm is professional and allows you to bring our whole self to work.
* We're lots of fun and very inclusive. You'll also have plenty of opportunities to participate in, and even run, social activities, diversity and inclusion networks, and charitable initiatives.
