Overview
We run 9 ALM bannered liquor stores with annual turnover of around $10–25m and are part of a larger retail group that also operates IGA supermarkets across Perth. You'll work directly with the Directors/Owners, who have an accounting background.
About The Role
This is a hands-on Senior Accountant role with responsibility for the day-to-day accounting across the liquor stores. You'll be involved in the detail, accountable for accuracy, and work closely with both offshore and internal teams. The role is mainly office-based, with 1 day working from home.
What you'll be
* Running month-end close, including journals, reconciliations, and accruals
* Preparing basic monthly P&L and balance sheet reports
* Managing supplier payments and day-to-day cashflow
* Reviewing AP, AR, and reconciliations completed by the offshore team
* Improving accounting processes and ways of working with the offshore team
* Working closely with the internal Payroll team on payroll-related accounting and payroll tax
* Preparing BAS and related compliance work, with external accountants reviewing/signing off
* Liaising with external accountants on year-end accounts
* Reviewing inventory entries and stock adjustments
* Supporting the Director and business with ad-hoc finance work
* Liaising with ALM, Banks, Insurance etc.
Skills & Experience
* 3–5+ years' experience in a hands-on accounting role
* Comfortable managing payments and cashflow
* Confident reviewing other people's work and following things up
* Organised, practical, and detail-focused
* CPA/CA qualified or working towards it (preferred, not essential)
* Retail or multi-site experience helpful, not required
* Good analytical skills
