Sydney Engineering Works Pty Ltd – Villawood NSW
You will work closely with our engineers and project managers to produce accurate and detailed drawings for remedial projects, including façades, structural repairs and building rectification works.
This role requires you to work in person at our Sydney office during normal business hours.
We are not able to consider remote applicants for this position.
Responsibilities
Revise and Update Plans: Modify existing drawings based on feedback from engineers or changes in project parameters, ensuring accuracy and compliance with updated specifications.
Calculate Material Requirements: Assess and calculate the materials and equipment needed for projects, contributing to cost estimation and project planning.
Field Data Collection: Occasionally accompany survey crews to gather data directly from the field, providing input for design adjustments based on real-world conditions.
Producing 2D and 3D CAD drawings and models for steel fabrication.
Interpreting engineering specifications, standards and client requirements to create accurate and detailed technical drawings.
Collaborating with the engineering and production teams to ensure designs are feasible and meet all necessary safety and quality standards.
Maintaining and updating our CAD standards and library of templates and components.
Providing guidance and training to junior draftspersons and designers as required.
Qualifications
At least a Diploma in a related field plus 12 months of work experience.
Extensive experience as a CAD Draftsperson, preferably within the metal fabrication or construction industries.
Experience across metal fabrication, construction, and steel fabrication industries is essential.
Strong understanding of engineering principles, materials, and fabrication methods.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and standards.
Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Good communication skills to effectively collaborate with the engineering and production teams.
