The Opportunity
As our Speech Pathologist, you will enjoy a varied caseload of geriatric consumers with Home Care Packages, Commonwealth Home Support Programs and Private funding. We currently have an exciting opportunity to join our team on a Full Time or Part Tim basis. This role would suit a skilled and empathetic with a passion for maintaining the quality of life for elderly individuals through exceptional care.
Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive assessments of residents presenting with speech, language, communication, and swallowing difficulties.
Identify and diagnose conditions such as dysphagia, aphasia, voice disorders, and cognitive-communication impairments.
Develop individualised care plans to address the specific needs of each resident, and adjust while monitoring progress & outcomes.
Implement therapeutic interventions to improve communication, speech, and swallowing function.
Provide ongoing therapy to residents with chronic conditions such as dementia, Parkinson's disease, and post-stroke complications.
Work collaboratively with other members of the multidisciplinary team, including case conferences & care planning meetings, to ensure comprehensive care.
Provide education and training to staff, residents, and their families about: communication strategies, safe swallowing techniques, and the risks associated with dysphagia; and to staff on: mealtime assistance and aspiration risk management.
Complete all record-keeping and reporting promptly and to a high standard, and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
Ensure all speech pathology services are provided in line with professional standards, aged care quality standards, and regulatory guidelines.
About You
Essential:
Current financial practicing member of SPA with Certified Practicing Speech Pathologist (CPSP) status and practices accordingly. New Grads welcome to apply!
Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Caring and compassionate attitude
Excellent clinical reasoning skills, with a desire to achieve results
Effective time management and organisational skills
Sound knowledge of WHS
Willingness and ability to travel to clients in the community
National Criminal Check Clearance & pre-employment assessment to be completed during recruitment
