As part of the Library's Bookshop, you will play a key role in customer service and stock management, working collaboratively with a small team to deliver a high quality experience for patrons.
The Library is seeking to fill an ongoing Administrative Assistant APS3 role in the Bookshop Section of the Community Engagement Branch.
As the Administrative Assistant, Bookshop you will play a key customer service role, along with receiving and monitoring all stock. You will communicate with key suppliers and apply your knowledge of a range of applications, cloud platforms and services to and answer questions from visitors about a very wide range of books. You will play an important role in stock merchandising and presentation. You will monitor the daily activities of the Bookshop, including end-of-day procedures, documenting and managing the daily sales transactions records, and assisting with stock take and banking.
This is a great opportunity to provide your technical expertise and commitment to accurate documentation to support the National Library's Bookshop. You will showcase your ability to develop, manage and maintain a range of internal and external stakeholder relationships, and collaborate with external networks.
We are looking for a details-orientated person with a demonstrated history of customer service.
To succeed in this role:
* You will have previous recent and relevant retail experience, preferably in a bookshop or similar
* You will be an experienced and capable user of the CircleSoft database
* You will have an understanding and interest in current Australian publishing and writing
* Respond in a concise and timely manner to service issues and requests
* Accurately and efficiently process stock, including overseeing the return of unsold stock
* Be a welcoming face of the National Library of Australia
* Preferably have previous experience in the cultural sector, who has an awareness of news and current affairs
* Ensure that Library Policies are followed
