The Role
As a Data Cabling Technician, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality structured cabling solutions for our clients. This position involves the installation, termination, testing, and commissioning of data, fibre, and communications cabling across a range of commercial and government sites. You will also assist with fault-finding, maintenance, and upgrades to existing cabling infrastructure.
Additionally, there will be an element of gaining hands-on experience installing and configuring AV equipment, including displays, projectors, speakers, microphones, and control systems—supporting AV setups to ensure optimal performance alongside cabling infrastructure.
You’ll be involved in a variety of hands-on projects and will have the opportunity to further develop your skills through industry-recognised training while working on diverse and high-profile installations.
Key Responsibilities
* Install, terminate, and test structured cabling systems, including Cat6/6A data cables & fibre optic.
* Read and interpret plans, drawings, and technical documentation to ensure accurate cabling installation.
* Perform fault-finding, maintenance, and upgrades to the existing cabling infrastructure.
* Test and certify cabling installations using industry-standard testing equipment.
* Work from site drawings, schematics, and specifications to accurately install cabling and AV systems, coordinating with other trades to avoid clashes and ensure smooth project delivery.
* Work closely with our project manager, coordinator, electricians, AV specialists, and IT teams to coordinate installations, resolve issues, and deliver projects on time and to specification.
* AV Equipment Installation & Integration – Setup of audio, visual, and control systems to specification.
* Video Conferencing Setup & Support – Implement and troubleshoot video conference systems for seamless collaboration.
* Client Communication – Work directly with clients to ensure projects meet their expectations.
* Documentation – Maintain clear, up-to-date project documentation and provide detailed reports.

* Certifications: Cabling license (Open Cabler), Structured Cabling Licence. We also support your professional growth through ongoing training.
* Qualifications:
o Essential: Cabling license (Open Cabler), Structured Cabling Licence, White Card, Working with Children Ochre Card, criminal history check and Driver’s License with clean driving history.
o Siemon Certified Installer Preferred.
o Desirable: NTPFES PF166 or the ability to obtain it.
