Job Summary
In this role, you will oversee preparation and implementation of a project Environmental Management Plan and supervise a team to support plan integration and execution. You will work with functional leads, evaluate performance trends, and provide technical guidance on mitigation measures. Your leadership will ensure protection of environmentally sensitive areas, species, and communities.
Project Overview
Bechtel is seeking to expand its decades long relationship with Reliance by providing Project Management Consultant (PMC) Services and Engineering Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) Services for offsites and utilities (OSBL) for a multi‑billion‑dollar upgrade / expansion of existing petrochemical facilities in India. Reliance plans to augment its existing petrochemical facilities in Dahej, Gujarat, and Nagothane, Maharashtra, to expand its PVC capacity. The PMC Services will be led out of India with personnel deployed in Mumbai region, the project sites in India, as well as several key contractor locations across India. The EPCM Services for OSBL will be led out of Bechtel's India offices.
Major Responsibilities
* Manage environmental services on a large‑scale or complex project, or within a Global Business Unit (GBU), or globally at the corporate level inclusive of technical and administrative aspects.
* Supervise assigned environmental personnel and provide guidance on their work activities.
* Provide technical support and training to Management and Business Development, Engineering, Construction, Commissioning and Startup, Operations, Legal, Contracts, Procurement, and other functions regarding ESH program execution.
* Ensure that environmental requirements are integrated within bid proposals, planning documents, design, construction and commissioning plans, schedules, and contract documents per corporate, GBU, and project environmental requirements.
* Prepare and review Environmental Management Plans and associated plans, and awareness and training programs, in compliance with Bechtel standards, the ESH Management System, and contract and regulatory requirements.
* Emphasize and use risk assessment, data analysis, and Bechtel's ESH Management System to help track and achieve continual improvement.
* Prepare technical and regulatory reports, review and perform environmental assessments and studies, research issues to support ESH program execution, and evaluate data and performance trends.
* Participate in ESH emergency preparedness planning and confirm investigation and resolution of environmental incidents.
* Conduct and coordinate reviews, assessments, and audits to monitor compliance with contractual commitments, regulatory requirements, and Bechtel standards and procedures.
* Identify and oversee preparation and submittal of environmental permit applications, review and negotiate permit conditions with regulatory agencies, track permit compliance and closeout, and guide implementation of project‑specific mitigation plans.
Education and Experience Requirements
Requires a Bachelor's or Master's degree (or international equivalent) related to environmental sciences, field biology, or natural resources and 13‑15 years of relevant experience or 17‑19 years of relevant work experience.
