About the Role
We are seeking a seasoned leader to take on the pivotal position of Operations Manager within our residential building company.
This key role reports directly to the General Manager and is responsible for ensuring projects transition smoothly from sales through to construction commencement. You will oversee the day-to-day running of pre-construction operations, lead cross-functional teams, and ensure high levels of efficiency, accuracy, and customer service across all departments.
* Oversee and manage all operational departments, including preconstruction administration, estimating / scheduling, and drafting
* Take ownership of production workflows to ensure seamless progression of jobs from acceptance through to site commencement
* Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to align operational output with business targets and strategic direction
* Implement and refine systems and procedures to improve productivity, reduce delays, and minimize margin erosion
* Lead and mentor departmental managers and teams, building capability and accountability
* Support a strong customer journey by ensuring client issues and escalations are handled professionally and in line with brand values
* Maintain a strong connection between sales, construction, and finance teams to ensure transparency across all project stages
* Take an active role in recruitment, performance management, staff development, and team culture initiatives
* Monitor and assess supplier performance, strengthening relationships and ensuring procurement practices support commercial goals
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives with a focus on innovation, systems integration, and quality assurance
About You
We're looking for a solutions-driven leader with a strong background in residential building operations. You'll be someone who enjoys improving processes, developing people, and supporting a company's strategic growth from the inside out.
You will bring:
* A minimum of 5 years in a senior operational or workflow leadership role
* Proven experience in residential construction, ideally including knowledge of infill site complexities and pre-site planning
* Strong people management skills with experience overseeing diverse teams and functions
* Solid knowledge of the residential building lifecycle, from sales through to build commencement
* Ability to identify bottlenecks, implement change, and lead operational transformation
* Excellent organizational, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
* A relevant degree or formal qualification in construction management, business, or a related field (preferred)
