The Australian portfolio is entering a more mature phase, with multiple projects progressing toward FID and others moving into O&M. This role has been created to strengthen commercial execution capability across the portfolio, particularly in relation to transactions, financing, and asset handover.
The Development Manager will support renewable energy projects through FID, transaction processes, project financing, and operational transition. The role suits a commercially minded development professional who understands the full project lifecycle and is comfortable operating beyond purely planning-led development.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial & Transactional Execution:
* Support and lead project sales, partial divestments, and partnership / JV structures
* Assist with transaction execution, including:
o Buy-side and sell-side due diligence
o Coordination with legal, financial, and technical advisors
o Data room preparation and management
* Contribute to project financing processes, including:
o Engagement with lenders and financial advisors
o Input into financial models and investment cases
o Support through investment approvals, FID, and financial close
* Work closely with internal commercial and finance teams to optimise value and risk allocation
Development & FID Support
* Support projects progressing toward FID, ensuring development risks, costs, and schedules are clearly understood
* Provide development and commercial input into investment papers and senior decision-making forums
* Interface with planning, grid, and technical consultants to close out residual development matters
Transition to Operations (O&M)
* Support the transition of projects from development into construction and operations
* Assist with commercial handover to asset management and O&M teams
* Support contract finalisation and post-FID commercial obligations
Portfolio & Strategic Support
* Operate flexibly across projects at different lifecycle stages
* Support portfolio optimisation and pipeline strategy
* Represent the business with partners, investors, advisors, and counterparties
Experience & Capability
Essential
* Development Manager-level experience in renewable energy
* Strong understanding of the end-to-end project lifecycle
* Demonstrated exposure to project sales, partnerships, and/or transactions
* Experience supporting project finance and lender engagement
* Development experience in Victoria and/or Queensland
* Strong commercial judgement and stakeholder management skills
Desirable
* Experience supporting projects transitioning into O&M
* Transaction exposure across solar, wind, BESS, or hybrid projects
* Background with a developer, IPP, or integrated energy platform
