We are seeking to engage a
Manager
for our
Adelaide Geotech Team
. In this role you'll coordinate the activities of the market sector and lead the team to deliver results at the local office level. This position provides input into designing, reviewing and delivering Geotechnics Market and State Business plans and is responsible for managing people within the local team with feedback and consultation from the Geotechnics State Manager and Regional Director.
Responsibilities
Effective planning and management of the performance of the local team in line with the Geotechnics Market Sector and State plans and in support of SMEC's vision and values
Undertaking client relationship management and business development activities in line with the Geotechnics Market Sector and State plans
Providing project governance and project management in the local office to achieve reliable project performance in terms of sophistication, timeliness and quality
With support from the State Sector Manager and Regional Director, provide leadership and development opportunities to the employees located in the local office to ensure cohesion, optimal performance, resourcing, retention and professional development
Providing support to the State Sector Manager and Regional Director, and manage activity to transition regional based business model to a national service model
About You / Qualifications
Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering (essential)
Post graduate qualifications in Geotechnics (highly regarded)
Strong geotechnical design, investigation and business development experience
Typically has 10-15+ years' industry experience
Detailed knowledge of the relevant Industry Standards and the application of these standards
Thorough understanding of the local external Geotechnics Market and skills to translate this knowledge to projects and people
High level communication skills, including negotiating and resolving commercial, technical and people matters
Knowledge of relevant legislation and theories and capacity for continuous learning
Ability to lead and manage multi-disciplinary teams locally
Participates in industry forums and workshops
Demonstrated leadership and motivational ability
Analytical, conceptual and creative thinking, coupled with customer orientation, proven management skills and commercial and business awareness
