Assistant Manager / Executive – Valuations
About our role:
We are looking for experienced valuations professionals to join our team at Alvarez & Marsal. As an Assistant Manager or Executive, you will play a key part in client project delivery, business and client development, and team building.
Key Responsibilities:
* Deliver high-quality valuation work, displaying technical and commercial acumen to support clients with a range of valuation requirements.
* Take responsibility for valuation analysis, research, and report writing.
* Support the Managing Directors in originating client work, assisting with proposal preparation, responses to clients, and go-to-market materials.
* Assist Managers in supporting junior team members' development.
* Participate in meetings and conference calls with company management and client personnel on project and execution matters.
* Manage and prioritise assigned responsibilities, consulting with internal stakeholders as needed.
* Work on multiple chargeable and non-chargeable projects of varying size and complexity, including business development.
* Suggest and interrogate robust valuation approaches for businesses and assets.
* Possess strong report writing skills to assist with preparing valuation reports.
* Build and review valuation models, identifying and interrogating key value drivers, sensitivity, and scenario analysis.
* Analyse a valuation target's historical financial statements, identifying drivers and trends.
* Analyse a valuation target's financial forecasts, identifying drivers and risks.
* Analyse the valuation target's industry, identifying trends and quantifying key comparable companies.
* Prepare benchmarking data, compiling and reviewing discount rate parameters, valuation multiples, and macroeconomic inputs.
* Assist the engagement manager with engagement issues, such as billing, status updates, scope changes.
Requirements:
* Strong educational background, with a bachelor's or master's degree in finance or a related field.
* CA or CFA certification preferred (for business valuations), or progress towards CPV accreditation (for plant & equipment valuations).
* Big Four experience viewed favourably but not essential.
* Able to travel within Australia where practical and possible.
* Strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills required.
* Experience with industry-standard research tools (such as CapitalIQ) required for business valuations.
* Data analytics and visualisation software experience (e.g., Alteryx, Power BI, Tableau) preferred.
* The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of valuation experience, be driven to success, a self-starter, and possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.
