About the role

IFYS has an exciting opportunity for a skilled and motivated leader to step into the role of Team Leader – Youth Transition Services. This is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing a range of youth programs including Fresh Start, Beyond Expectations, Reconnect, and Youth Engagement and Linkage Service (YELS).

As Team Leader, you will lead a dedicated team to deliver high-quality services aligned with funding agreements and organisational values, and play a vital role in supporting young people through strengths-based, trauma-informed practices,

Key responsibilities

- Lead and support a multidisciplinary team delivering youth transition programs; provide supervision, guidance and oversight of team caseloads
- Foster a strengths-based, client-centred team culture aligned with the Sanctuary Model
- Develop and maintain strong stakeholder relationships across government and community sectors
- Ensure administrative and financial accountability by maintaining timely and accurate records, including service-user documentation, work plans, monthly reports, audits, evaluations, and program budgets
- Identify opportunities for program growth and innovation
- Ensure compliance with service agreements and statutory reporting
- Advocate for young people to ensure services are accessible, relevant, and flexible
- Develop and submit funding proposals and tenders
- Design and implement targeted learning initiatives to strengthen team capabilities and drive continuous improvement
- Represent IFYS in collaborative forums and stakeholder groups

Key requirements

- Experience in a leadership role within youth or community services
- Relevant tertiary qualification (Diploma level or higher) in Social Work, Youth Work, or related field
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed practice and case management
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and support a team
- Sound judgment and crisis management skills
- Strong time management and organisational skills
- Experience in program compliance and reporting
- A continuous learning mindset

Must hold or be willing to obtain if successful

- Valid QLD Driver’s Licence with no restrictions and a clear traffic record
- QLD Working with Children Check (Paid Blue Card)
- Licensed Care Suitability Check (LCS2)
- National Crime Check (IFYS will complete a new check through our systems)
- Ability to provide two recent line manager references (including current employer)
