Turnco Building and Maintenance is one of Newcastle top maintenance carpentry companies. We work on all sorts of projects across the Newcastle/Hunter/Lake Mac area including small to large private renovations, real estate and strata maintenance, emergency make safes, and more, so much variety there's no boring days

Being a maintenance carpentry company, we often have up to 10 jobs on the go at a time, which provides you a fantastic opportunity to really challenge yourself by planning and managing a wide variety of jobs, with a great emphasis on returning you safe home to your family every day

Here's the kicker, you DON'T need to have experience as an ops manager previously, we just want a gun tradesman that can confidently make decisions, see a job comprehensively and has basic computer skills, everything else you will learn along the way.

· Your role comes with a strong remuneration package made up of predominantly a base salary up to $110k (based on experience and skills) with regular pay reviews

Your role will include:

1. Oversee daily scheduling and resource planning for maintenance jobs.

2. Ensure all technicians are prepared, equipped, and briefed for their work.

3. Monitor job progress, budgets, and variations to ensure profitable outcomes.

4. Liaise with clients to confirm job details, timelines, and service expectations.

5. Maintain clear communication with the office team regarding job status and priorities.

6. Review and approve job notes, timesheets, and field documentation.

7. Support tradespeople with technical questions, site issues, and client concerns.

8. Conduct regular site visits to ensure quality and adherence to company standards.

9. Manage vehicle stock, materials ordering, and supplier relationships.

10. Identify operational inefficiencies and implement process improvements.

11. Ensure all team members comply with WHS standards and company procedures.

12. Lead toolbox meetings, safety checks, and training sessions.

13. Assist with quoting, scheduling quoted works, and job costing as required.

14. Manage defect callbacks and ensure issues are resolved promptly.

15. Support recruitment, onboarding, and development of field staff.

16. Represent the business professionally at all times and maintain strong client relationships.

What we need from you:


• Qualified carpenter with minimum 5 years' experience.


• Previous experience in an operations Manager or supervisory role (preferred but not essential for the right applicant).


• Full driver's licence (Manual preferred).


• White Card + relevant tools.


• Reliable and punctual


• Positive, motivated, and supportive leader


• Strong communicator with clients and team members


• Able to manage multiple priorities calmly and effectively


• Solution-focused with strong organisational skills


• Committed to high-quality work and continuous improvement


• Comfortable using systems and following structured processes


• Take pride in your work and go the extra mile to make sure the job is top notch


• Experience with both commercial & industrial construction and maintenance work would help
