South West Healthcare is seeking an experienced Perinatal Social Worker (Grade 3) to join the Social Work and Counselling team within Women’s Health Services at the Warrnambool Campus.
This role offers the opportunity to support women and families during pregnancy and the perinatal period, providing specialised psychosocial care while living and working in the beautiful coastal region of Warrnambool.
Position Details
* Employment Type: Full-time (80 hours per fortnight) with a monthly ADO

* Salary: $104,135.20 – $118,981.20 (pro rata) + superannuation
About the Role
This role provides specialised psychosocial support to women and families during pregnancy, focusing on the early identification and management of psychosocial risk and support needs .
The successful candidate will deliver advanced clinical expertise while working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated, high-quality, woman-centred care across the perinatal continuum.
Key areas of focus include mental health screening, family violence response, complex risk assessment, and care coordination for women with high-risk or complex needs.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct psychosocial screenings and risk assessments
* Provide counselling, mediation, and therapeutic interventions
* Liaise with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure continuity of care
* Provide expert consultation on family violence, child protection, and infant safety
* Support women with their emotional, physical, and cultural wellbeing
What You Bring
* Eligibility for AASW membership with a minimum of 7 years’ post-qualification clinical experience in perinatal, women’s health, or women and children’s settings
* Advanced skills in perinatal psychosocial assessment, mental health screening, early intervention, and counselling
* Strong knowledge of trauma-informed and recovery-oriented practice
* Understanding of relevant legislation including Family Violence, Child Safety, Information Sharing, and Mandatory Reporting
* Experience in perinatal risk assessment and complex care coordination
* Ability to provide clinical supervision, education, and professional guidance
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong advocacy capability
