**Your new role**

This role involves providing technical instruction, support, and other relevant services for teaching, research, and engagement programs. The position is crucial in ensuring that safe practices are followed in studio, workshop, and teaching areas.

In your new role of Technical Officer (Digital Technologies), you will provide technical support for class activities and student project work associated with specialised computing technologies, including extended reality (VR, AR & MR), 3D scanning, modelling, programming, and electronics. You'll be part of a team that works to establish and nurture a vibrant community of confident hands-on makers, and to foster a student-centric environment that promotes an open, investigative, experimental, and interdisciplinary approach to making.
- Demonstrated skills and experience in extended reality (VR, AR & MR) technologies, e.g. Meta Quest 2 and 3, HTC Vive.
- Demonstrated skills and experience in game design software (e.g. Unreal Engine, Unity) and programming.
- Demonstrated skills and experience with 3D scanning and organic modelling technologies and software (e.g. Artec, ZBrush, Blender), including optimisation and clean-up processes of complex and dense meshes.
- Experience with the use of microcontrollers and/or single-board computers and IoT devices (e.g. Arduino, Raspberry Pi) and associated programming languages and software development tools.
- Experience managing and maintaining digital platforms for documentation and digital archiving (e.g. use of WordPress, Markdown, HTML).
- Demonstrated understanding of general computing technologies and hardware, including confidence troubleshooting software issues.
- Demonstrated oral communication skills with the ability to interact effectively and professionally with staff and students at all levels, as well as the ability to effectively communicate information and provide instruction to others.
- Demonstrated effective written communication skills with the ability to produce documents, correspondence, records, instructions and procedures which are clear, accurate and concise.
- Demonstrated knowledge of, and commitment to ensuring, Occupational Safety and Health practices and regulations are followed.

**Desirable Criteria**
- Experience with 3D modelling for digital fabrication and prototyping.
- Experience in architectural visualisation tools such as Twinmotion.
- Knowledge of design and publication software (e.g. Adobe Suite) and related software packages.
- Experience in Adobe Substance 3D Painter.
- Understanding of virtual production processes, including equipment, lighting, and green screens.
- Previous experience in the higher education sector.
