Monroe Australia is seeking an experienced and motivated Production Supervisor within automotive manufacturing to support growth in our Adelaide manufacturing operations.

As part of our expansion, this newly created position will play a key role in establishing and leading our afternoon shift, while also supporting day shift operations to ensure consistency, performance, and alignment across production.

About the role

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the role is responsible for supervising daily production activities and ensuring alignment with organisational objectives. The position requires a hands‐on leader who can effectively manage people, processes, and performance in a fast‐paced manufacturing environment.

Key responsibilities

* Operational Oversight: Managing daily production schedules, assigning tasks to team members, and ensuring assembly lines or manufacturing cells meet their hourly and daily targets.
* Quality Control: Monitoring production outputs to ensure they meet industry‐specific quality systems and inspecting materials and equipment to prevent defects.
* Safety & Compliance: Enforcing strict health and safety regulations to minimise workplace accidents and ensuring staff follow regulatory and company‐specific safety procedures.
* Training: Ensuring shop‐floor employees are correctly trained in the safe use of equipment and machinery.
* Team Leadership: Training and mentoring existing and new production staff, conducting performance assessments, resolving personnel disputes, and promoting collaboration across organisational lines.
* Process Improvement: Implementing Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles to reduce waste, optimise workflows, and minimise equipment downtime.
* Equipment Maintenance: Monitoring the condition of production machinery and scheduling necessary repairs or routine maintenance to prevent line stoppages.
* KPI: Monitoring and reporting Key Performance Indicators for Safety, Quality, Productivity, and delivery.
* Standards: Creating disciplines and support systems that follow Tenneco's P3 (People, Performance, Pride) management system.
* Industrial Relations: Facilitating and enhancing working relationships between management and shop‐floor team members, ensuring company procedures and policies are adhered to.

About you

* Recognised trade qualification and/or tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Management, or a related discipline.
* 5+ years' experience in a Production Supervisor role (automotive industry preferred).
* Manufacturing experience acceptable across various industries, with automotive industry experience preferred but not mandatory.
* Experience leading teams of up to 20+ staff in manufacturing or similar operational environments.
* Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing and production performance metrics.
* Sound knowledge of WHS legislation and safe work practices.
* Proven leadership capability with the ability to engage and develop teams.
* Strong communication and problem‐solving skills.
* Strong understanding of the RTW Act in supporting workers returning to work.
* Flexibility to work across day and afternoon shifts, including overtime as required.
