Seeking Certified Peer Specialist to join our Women's Forensic Team.
Under the supervision of a Program Coordinator or Manager, this role is for an individual with lived experience in mental health recovery and/or substance use recovery. They will share their personal, practical experience and knowledge to benefit the team and clients.
The Peer Support Specialist will engage individuals with psychiatric disabilities who have had contact with the criminal justice system. Responsibilities include working one-on-one with referrals from mental health courts, probation, forensic liaison, and shelters to provide ongoing supports. This includes developing reentry plans prior to release from jail to ensure a smooth transition back into the community.
After release, the specialist will provide personal encouragement and practical assistance. Services are provided based on Recovery tenets, promoting self-determination and overall health and well-being of persons served.
Key Responsibilities:
* Engage individuals with psychiatric disabilities in the community.
* Work one-on-one with referrals from various sources.
* Develop reentry plans for individuals transitioning back into the community.
Requirements:
* Valid peer support certification.
* Valid Ohio driver's license with less than 6 points.
