This is a 36 month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 2, 2026

The School
Located in the Central Kimberley Region between Broome and Kununurra, most students come from the town of Halls Creek and the communities of Mardiwa Loop and Nicholson Block. A few students commute from several family communities within 20 km of Halls Creek, Koongie Park Station (20 km) and Lamboo Station (40 km).
At Halls Creek District High School (DHS), we have developed both a culture of high expectations and a high care environment where success is supported and celebrated. Halls Creek DHS has an enrolment of approximately 330 students across the Kindergarten to Year 12 campus, with a 98% Aboriginal enrolment. Located in the beautiful East Kimberley Region, we are part of the Kimberley Schools Project, and are committed to attracting, recruiting, and coaching teachers to master explicit teaching pedagogy.
The Location and Community
Schools in the Remote Teaching Service are located in some of the most isolated parts of the state. They may be in community settings or small towns, and the majority of students are from local Aboriginal families. They deliver flexible and innovative education programs to ensure students in remote areas have access to high quality learning programs.

The Role
As a member of our team, the successful Secondary Generalist Teacher applicant will ideally be a conscientious, flexible and innovative educator who is committed to the development of the whole student. The successful applicant will ideally be actively involved both within the school and wider community, highly reflective of your teaching practices and committed to evidence-based decision making and differentiation.
The successful applicant should be motivated, possess the ability to teach secondary generalist subjects and be knowledgeable of the Western Australian Curriculum. Teachers and School Administrators employed at Halls Creek District High School in 2026 are eligible to receive a temporary Attraction and Retention Incentive of $3 000 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.
The temporary ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.
