Senior Biochemist – Protein Purification and Characterisation
This is a fixed-term, full-time position that supports innovative research into computationally engineered proteins for neurodegeneration. The Senior Laboratory Technician will work closely with researchers to express and purify proteins using bacterial systems.
* Express and purify proteins using bacterial systems
* Perform biochemical assays to analyse protein–protein interactions
* Maintain laboratory operations including equipment maintenance, ordering supplies, managing chemicals and waste, troubleshooting experiments, preparing reports, and providing training to students and researchers
* Ensure workplace health and safety by risk management, inductions, safety training, incident reporting, audit compliance and safe design principles
* Coordinate equipment requests, maintain consumable inventories, support budgeting and procurement, supervise casual staff, and liaise with internal and external stakeholders
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have a relevant degree in biochemistry, cell biology or related field, plus experience in protein expression and purification. Desirable experience includes biophysical methods, protein crystallisation, structure determination, or computational protein design.
