About the role

Catherine's House Mother Baby Unit (CHMBU) is seeking a Senior Psychologist for a Permanent, Part-Time 32 hours per week basis. CHMBU is a leading, integrated perinatal and infant mental health service offering both inpatient and outpatient care to public and private consumers.

The Senior Psychologist will be part of the Allied Health Inpatient Team and play a key leadership role in providing psychological consultation and guidance across Catherine's House services.

CHMBU provides state‐wide acute assessment and treatment for mothers with significant mental health conditions, co‐admitted with their infants (under one year old). The inpatient unit includes 10 beds, with 2 designated as high‐dependency. The outpatient services offer a variety of mental health interventions for mothers, the mother‐infant dyad, and families, as well as community‐based parenting programs.

The Senior Psychologist will work closely with the Team Leader, Nurse Unit Manager, Psychiatry team, and the broader multidisciplinary team. This role involves clinical consultancy, leadership in infant and perinatal mental health practice, and active involvement in research, education, and continuous quality improvement.

* Provide advanced clinical leadership in perinatal mental health to mother‐infant dyads and their support networks
* Deliver evidence‐based perinatal and infant mental health assessments, formulations, and interventions to ensure holistic care for parents, babies, and families
* Offer individual and group clinical interventions for parent‐baby dyads, aligned with the Parent Support Centre and Catherine's House model of care
* Demonstrate leadership in the psychology discipline, particularly in infant and perinatal mental health, within a multidisciplinary team
* Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to integrate and evaluate strategic priorities for quality improvement and research within Catherine's House
* Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
* Contribute to a network of referral options and resources for consumers with perinatal and infant mental health concerns
* Lead and provide clinical supervision, debriefing, and mentorship to less experienced peers, ensuring evidence‐based supervision practices
About you
* General Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
* High‐level expertise in providing clinical services for complex perinatal and infant mental health presentations, including for mothers and caregivers in the inpatient unit
* Exceptional organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to drive innovation and service improvements
* The capacity to provide clinical services independently in perinatal and infant mental health, demonstrating autonomy and sound clinical judgement
* Experience in initiating, monitoring, and evaluating service initiatives, particularly in the context of clinical services and continuous improvement.
* Advanced clinical practice skills, particularly in evidence‐based, patient‐centred care, ideally within an acute mental health inpatient setting involving families
