Senior .NET Developer (3 positions) – ICT Labour Hire – Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade.

Job Details
The Passports IT Section within the Business Solutions Branch of DFAT's Information Management and Technology Division requires experienced .NET developers to support multiple .NET applications that underpin the passports technology stack.
Contract: Initial 12‐month term with up to two 12‐month extensions. Max 2 candidates per seller. Start date 27 April 2026.
Key responsibilities
* Manage multiple high‐priority work items in an agile team environment.
* Lead or contribute to ICT technical teams, delivering software that meets DFAT's business requirements.
* Design and develop full‐stack .NET solutions, including modern cloud and API services.
* Maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines and software repositories.
* Ensure secure application design following least‐privilege principles (Cyber ISM).
* Communicate technical concepts to non‐technical stakeholders.
* Participate in a shared on‐call roster for 24/7 support outside standard business hours.
Essential criteria
* Multiple years of Microsoft .NET experience, full‐stack development.
* Design and develop .NET applications using Azure resources (Functions, Logic Apps, PaaS SQL, API Manager, Service Bus, Entra ID) and deploy via YAML pipelines.
* Experience developing model‐driven apps.
* Knowledge of securing applications per least‐privilege principles (Cyber ISM).
* Experience with modern reactive JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks.
* Experience establishing and managing software repositories and CI/CD pipelines.
Desirable criteria
* Strong problem‐solving and critical‐thinking skills; lead solution design.
* Ability to work under pressure and deliver business outcomes within an agile, multi‐disciplinary team.
* Excellent communication skills, able to convey technical concepts to non‐technical stakeholders.
Additional requirements
* Must have or be able to obtain Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) security clearance.
* Will work with DFAT's contractor stand‐down period in December/January (4–6 weeks).
* Candidate must be willing to volunteer for shared on‐call roster.
* Allowed to provide a one‐page pitch (≈5000 characters) addressing all required criteria.
