Senior Supervisor required for a short-term contract with possible extension - Urgent Immediate Start - Cairns

Our client is a key provider of essential building and construction services across Far North Queensland, delivering high-quality outcomes for government infrastructure and assets. They are urgently seeking a highly capable and experienced Senior Supervisor to join their dynamic trades team on a short-term contract, with strong potential for extension.
Your new role
You'll support the construction team in delivering maintenance and large-scale upgrade projects across government assets in Cairns and remote regions. Responsibilities include site inspections, team leadership, and ensuring project outcomes align with safety, quality, and timeline expectations. The role is full-time (up to 40 hours/week, Monday to Friday) and may involve travel by vehicle or light aircraft, with overnight stays of up to 5 nights as required.
Key Responsibilities:
* Supervise and coordinate office, field staff, and subcontractors
* Manage resources including vehicles, equipment, and depots
* Monitor project progress, quality, and budget using work order systems
* Ensure compliance with legislation, safety standards, and best practices
* Provide contract oversight on complex construction projects
* Maintain strong client relationships and promote services
* Lead team performance and uphold workplace standards
What you'll need to succeed
You're a qualified tradesperson with proven supervisory experience and a solid understanding of the building and construction industry. You're detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and confident, managing teams and schedules.
* Trade Qualification
* Construction White Card
* Current Driver's Licence
* Ability to read and interpret plans
* Strong knowledge of Building Code and Australian Standards
* Sound computer and reporting skills
* Demonstrated ability to lead and organise teams
Highly Desirable Skills
* Experience in project or contract management
* Knowledge of asset management trends and client engagement
