What you'll be doing
The Level 3 Social Worker is responsible for the provision of psychosocial and parenting interventions with vulnerable families participating in the Sustaining NSW Families (SNF) program in the MNCLHD.
The Social Worker position provides an important function in the team for addressing family's needs that are outside of the scope of the nurse home visitor role. The Social Worker position augments the role of the nurse home visitor in the therapeutic relationship working with children and parents, by allowing the nurse home visitor to concentrate their efforts on the parent-child relationship and the parental job of parenting. Interventions will occur primarily with Child and Family Health Nurses (CFHN) and other team members in the form of casework, group work and community education/activities with other government and non-government organisations.
The Level 3 Social Worker provides specialist social work and counselling interventions with an early intervention focus which aim to enhance parenting capacity, promote health family functioning, support families at a time of change and promote infant mental health. The focus of the intervention is the adult (parent or carer) through the exploration of the parent/child relationship and presenting issues.
The Level 3 social worker can demonstrate advanced reasoning skills and operate autonomously with minimal direct clinical supervision
The position involves working with families with complexed issues and potential exposure to trauma.
